The last column on this chart has me confused. What is "dynamic behavior?" I've never observed anything other than a change in following distance when adjusting the gap. Are they saying that Sport mode is selected if you set the gap to one bar? And what is "Comfort" behavior? I'm wondering if this is a "cut and paste" from a different user manual (Lincoln or Fusion Platinum?).

I am guessing that it means in close range it will act quicker and firmer, where as sliding back a ways it will takes its time and ease the actions, to not be so abrupt.

Yes, I'm interpreting the dynamic behavior as how the ACC system behaves. So it's more of a descriptive behavior definition rather than driving mode.

I have noticed that when set to 1 bar, braking is much harder and can sometimes cause the collision warning to engage. Acceleration at 1 bar seems to be aggressive in nature sometimes causing that 0-60-0 stop and go experience most of us hate.

The 4 bar setting seems to be the most annoying and leaves large gaps which open the door for lane weavers. I typically toggle between 2 and 3 bar settings depending on the thickness of traffic. When on a fairly clear highway, knowing there won't be any sudden stops, 1 bar is ideal.

Also, during collision avoidance it can hit the brakes fast and HARD! (See prior post regarding a situation with our Edge.) When it does this just hope the person behind you is not too close.

I experienced this about a week ago. I was turning left and there was a bus at the intersection on the side street that .screened me from the lane I was turning into. Cruise control was not engaged. As I came around the corner there was a car stopped directly in front of me, beside the bus (for no apparent reason). My car braked hard enough to activate the ABS (there was a little bit of gravel on the road). Got a beep and a message on the left screen saying something like "emergency braking engaged." Much like the VW and Subaru commercials. I had to press the accelerator to start moving again. Definitely a good thing with all the distracted drivers out there.
