Sync 3 2.3 update - No more apps

2206 Views 8 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  bbf2530
I updated my `17 Ford Fusion Sport to Sync 3 2.3, and now none of the apps will come up. I click on the apps icon and I get the Sirius info link and "Search for new apps," but no apps appear. I made sure I was plugged in to the USB port and have the apps running. When I press the "Search for new apps," I get "no new apps found". I tried it with Pandora and iHeart, but they never show up. Am I missing something? Has anyone seen this? I even did a system reset.

iPhone?
Yes, iPhone. I found this link elsewhere, so this is probably the answer:

I wanted app mode to work, since I've been reading that Waze will soon be ready to run as an app in app mode. That's way better than Apple maps.

Does this mean a Waze will be a standalone app that does not require a phone to use? Has that been officially announced? Any ETA?

Hi CG. No, there will be no update/change to SYNC 3. As with all apps, we will still need to connect our cell phone to use Waze.

Good luck.

Thanks bbf2530. I kind of thought so. I am happy Waze and the other apps work using the phone connection. I think it was GM who recently said they are doing away with CarPlay support in future vehicles. Big mistake.

Hi CG. You are very welcome. And yes, you are correct that GM announced that moving forward, they will be going with their own AI platform, as opposed to supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. And as you do, I believe it is a mistake. But they didn't ask me. 😉

Good luck. 🍻
