So I was looking for replacements for
HG9Z-18124-B and HG9Z-18124-D. They seem to be backordered everywhere. Seems there's non-oem replacements that appear to have the electrical connectors and they advertise retaining the CCD. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with any particular brand's replacements. If I have to go non-oem and want to retain the CCD, I was wanting to make sure I order the right brand and units. My guess is, these are rebuilt units that I'm mostly seeing.

I just got all 4 struts (shocks) from Ford. Yes, one of the fronts was on backordered, think I waited about 3 extra weeks for that one.
I don't think anyone here has tried the aftermarket, and I would not unless you are REALLY hard up for cash.

I don't even know anyone on this board that knows exactly what signal is going to the shocks, and when (or why exactly).
Until there was some way for the general automotive community to at least know that, I wonder how an aftermarket shock maker knows.

We aren't talking break the bank money @ $830ish delivered. I would wait.

One would think Motorcraft would make replacements under their part number system...

Why would they need Motorcraft part numbers for struts? They're rarely replaced in comparison to maintenance parts, and have way more variations than maintenance items as well. Much easier to just use the full part number.

Apparently Motorcraft does have 'replacements', but I have no idea if they actually retain the CCD or not. P/N AST24749 is supposed to be one of them.

All, if you can't find the struts with the above part numbers, you might be able to find them using the Motorcraft part numbers. DS front is AST-24749 and PS front is AST-24747.
