Anybody know what is causing this whining sound, or had something replaced that made the same noise. Much more noticeable in winter and when it is colder. But it is doing it all the time now, just not as loud. Sounds like a siren in the cold.

Hi Smbk. A whining sound will very often be caused by a belt or pulley (as LeVel stated) or the alternator. If you have a local shop or tech you trust they could probably listen and diagnose it in a minute.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Just curious, have you checked your Transmission Fluid level? The reason I ask, is that the sound seems to change as your car shifts.

Not yet, wanted to a few months ago before taking it in. Transmission fluid was replaced at dealer by previous owner 40k km (20k miles) ago.
