I can't measure myself at the moment so does anyone know the maximum length of a board or pipe that can fit inside the car (from the back of the trunk to the passenger front airbag, rear seats folded of course)?

Yeah. I've had several 10' PVC sections at once. They bend a bit so it helps.

Put them under dash in front pass side, something nice and cushy on center console cover (as whatever you have will sit right on it), and then angle
them torwards drivers rear corner.

Yup, that's how you do it, I run the passenger seat back, and lay it down almost flat as it will go if I'm hauling any wood, but with my system in the car now I have to use Kristen's. Miss it when she had her Escape, could fit taller things in it. Told her were getting an Edge next, I can get a small trailer and pull it with it.
