Much better idea . We don't want to lose an A/C vent here in Texas .This was my answer to no one making a gauge pod for the Fusion.
Any chance to get contact info for that guy that isn't facebook? I don't have an acct/ Thx
His name is Paul Marsh and the only place I see him is on the Facebook group known as:Sorry. I don’t have any other info on him…
Just make an account that doesn't have your real name if you don't want to share personal info, lots of good info on there. Just a heads up, the guy is charging $60 to 3D print these... Using maybe $0.50 worth of filamentAny chance to get contact info for that guy that isn't facebook? I don't have an acct/ Thx
$60 is still a lot. I 3D print personally, and it's one of those "set it and forget it" type of things while you wait for it to finish. I'd personally probably charge $15, maybe $20 for a custom one. Shouldn't take more than 30 mins to change up the design in blender or whatever software you use, and there are probably only a handful of different designs people would want. A base one without vent slots, one with vent slots, and the rest would just be a different size/shape for the gauge pod? I design 3D printable things for people for free because it's a fun hobby, and so does most of the 3D print community (check thingiverse or other similar websites). I'm not knocking on your attempt to capitalize on a good idea, but like I said, $60 is a lot.I charge 60 to print them because I designed them and will modify them as needed for people's personal request, keep in mind they take 8 hours to print just one. Time is money
You can complain if you want to, but he said he'd make them custom which requires time, knowledge, equipment/supplies/software costs, etc.$60 is still a lot. Uhhh did you even read my post? Making them custom takes like 30 mins tops, I could probably do it in 10, and once you make a handful of custom files, chances are those are going to be the only ones anyone would ask for. All of the software you need is free, the 3D printer I've been using for years costs $150 (I picked mine up for $75 from eBay) and material cost is like 50 cents. Just to be clear, I'm not in the market for purchasing one because I'm happy with my sct X4 mounted to the windshield, but asking $60 for a 3D printed item is kinda crazy. Just for fun, go ahead and Google up any 3D printed item you can think of on Etsy or something and see how much people sell them for. I'm getting annoyed enough at these justifications to just go make a model myself and upload the STL file on here for free for anyone to print. And to be even clearer, I'd be surprised if it takes more than an hour to make the model...You can complain if you want to, but he said he'd make them custom which requires time, knowledge, equipment/supplies/software costs, etc.
I've looked everywhere on the internet for a custom one for our vents to non-avail. $60-$80 is nothing for custom prints compared to the other options available. If you're unhappy with a cornered market then go out and compete with your own product.
I have googled it on etsy, and Thingiverse. Go ahead and make a few, you'll have to measure out all the dimensions and make it yourself then. Some people don't have the equipment or time to dedicate towards a small project like this. If anything he's doing us a favor by offering a product in exchange for a tank of gas. Not trying to be arrogant, just get annoyed when people get greedy. Not sure why you're trying to defend that. Like I said, a 3D printer is cheap and this takes like an hour to do, measuring isn't hard. I've done harder 3D print projects for people for free. The material costs a cup of gas. Again, not trying to be an arse but you clearly didn't read my previous post with what you originally said.I have googled it on etsy, and Thingiverse. Alright, I stand corrected, you won this argument hands down.Alright, here ya go guys, had some free time this morning to make a 52mm vented version. The hardest part was trying to remove the vent and put it back in. Otherwise, it's definitely best to get a second vent so that the duct's retaining clips could be cut off to let this be glued in place easier. It could definitely be modified to just have slots for using the retaining clips. 2013-2020 Ford Fusion Vent Gauge Pod 52mm by Arlenok
