Today I was driving (35-40 MPH) and a Lexus RX (yes, I know right?) in front of me was about to turn right but in the last second he decided not to turn but to continue straight and magic happened, beeps and red LED's went off meaning Fusion was actually paying attention. I was paying attention as well so the situation was not dangerous but I was glad that whatever software or AI this thing is using it made a right call.
Just wanted to share this with the Forum. I know Ford has very good FCWwBS and gets Superior rating by IIHS but all that is nothing until you personally experience it.
And yes, I gave my car nice pat on the A-pillar when I got home...
Cheers
I am not sure if FCW works in stop and go traffic, I think it has like a minimum speed of 10 MPH (I don't have my manual here) before it engages. Maybe I am just silly...I sat in stop/go traffic one day where the collision warning went off every time the vehicle in front of me stopped ... if my foot wasn't on the brake it seemed to assume I wasn't paying attention. Other than that time, it's warned me on some people making right turns where I didn't touch the brakes, and the very first time was a bicyclist I was trying to run over![]()
