My 19s warranty is up next month. I want to get an extended Ford warranty.
Ziegler is really cheap, but curious if anyone here has bought there Ford warranty and can provide feedback on your experience. Asking.... It is a real Ford warranty? Their price on the website is half the Ford price... And I don't mind saving 40/50% on my warranty.

Hi BD. Yes, they are a licensed Dealer/seller of FordProtect and LinconProtect ESP Plans.

And as shown on their website, they sell the genuine FordProtect and LincolnProtect ESP warranty plans. I have purchased my ESP's from them for my last 4 vehicles, and highly recommend them. I have also posted many times recommending them, both here and on other forums.

The reason their prices are so low is because most Ford and Lincoln Dealers mark up their ESP Plan prices a ridiculous amount. If you Google "Ford ESP sellers" you can find many other online sellers. My extensive online and local Dealer shopping experience has shown Zeigler to offer the lowest available pricing, with Flood Ford coming a close second...usually within ~$20. After that, the offering prices increase quite a bit.

One more tip: Be sure you compare apples to apples when shopping. There are many pricing variables and options...Including 4 different plan levels, time/mileage contract duration, various deductibles (from $0 up), optional coverage for LED lighting, key coverage, rental car coverage etc. So do your homework and be sure to get a contract for exactly what want.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Agree with all the above. I got the 8yr 125K, zero deductible premiumcare. I just requoted using a fictional 2020, still under factory 3/36 (like mine was) and it was $3265, really about the same I paid a while ago for my 17. Appears now you can get up to 9 or 10 years, would have loved to have that when I got mine.

Also bought from Ziegler for my '19, PremiumCare 8 year plan with $0 deductible. Genuine Ford ESP (Extended Service Plan). PremiumCare covered more of the electronics amongst other stuff the next level down doesn't. Got the LED protection add-on which was only $15 more. You can also get more rental car coverage if you like plus some other add-ons. Of course different prices for years of coverage, mileage coverage, and deductible choices. Priced several places and they came in the cheapest. I found a discount code that took more off the online price if I paid in full, plus I had a few FordPass Rewards points they will accept toward the purchase price. Very professional when I called and they sent me the documentation in the mail after purchase. Showed up on my FordPass after purchase so know it went through okay. Of course now that I have the ESP that is insurance that my car won't break down and I won't have to use it.

One note, if you let your factory warranty coverage lapse before purchasing a plan, they may require a dealer inspection before you can get a plan to make sure the car is in good condition to start. And the ESP years of coverage does not start when you get the plan, it starts on the original new car purchase date, so an 8 year plan only covers you for another 5 years.on top of the original 3 years factory warranty.

I agree w/all the above. I have a Ziegler (Premium Care) warranty as well on my FFS. Haven't had a chance to use it but I'm about to. Which leads me to a question to the 3 previous posters: My HVAC door (vent) mode actuator has taken a poop. In fact, This is the mechanism that diverts the air between defrost, mid-section & floor. I posted about it on here earlier hoping to find a forum member w/a similar ish & fix. Luckily, I found just that. Looks fairly easy to repair myself. However, dummy me forgot about my extended warranty. So I scanned the "what's covered" section in my brochure & the only thing I found was:
  • Instrument Panel Registers and Air Duct

Pretty vague. So I decided to email & call them. I got an email & return call within minutes, both telling me they think it's covered but to check w/Ford Protect. So I did. They were useless. I just wanted to validate this item was covered before having to spend $150.00 for a diagnosement fee & $1,000.00 for the repair if it isn't' covered. So the question I pose is: In your opinion, would the HVAC door (vent) mode actuator be covered?

thank you.

Hi BF. Yes, it is covered with a PremiumCare FordProtect ESP.

However, to explain the Dealerships answer...Most busy Dealerships are not going to research the particular contract coverage a vehicle has via a phone call/email. So they will avoid giving a definitive answer over the phone/email, in order to avoid a "But you told me it is covered" angry customer. I am not defending that policy, only making the information known.

But if you have a FordProtect PremiumCare plan, then yes, it is covered. Assuming they don't find things like wads of chewing gum, doggie treats, a broken beer bottle etc. in there. ;)

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

We just had a rear diff done under warantee on our 17 escape. Get the EXACT part number.
At first the dealer was telling me not covered. I'm like WTF, off all things that should be covered with
premium care, rear axle should. Finally got PN from dealer, called Ford and they called the dealer back.
Got it straightened out.

I would get PN (s) and get it in writing it is covered (or record phone cons if applicable).

I was looking into the coverage of ESP on Ford.com to get a base price to compare, and didn't see options for LED lighting, key coverage, or rental car coverage. But I did see it on Zeigler's site. Are these add on warranties also provided by Ford ESP or just a Zeigler perk?
Also Zeigler's site doesn't give me a quote for the 19 unless it assumes its out of warranty. I assume I would have to reach out to them for a real quote?

Hi BD. They both offer the exact same plans, just packaged differently on their websites. Some sites include the LED lighting and key coverage in their quotes, with the option to refuse the coverage.
Other sites, like Zeigler, offer the LED and Key coverage as add-on options. The final result is the same.
The Ford site may be one of those "option to refuse" sites, if I remember correctly.

If you can not find a way to work up a quote on the Zeigler site, then yes, call them and they will walk you through the process by asking the necessary questions.

You are still within the 3 year limit of the 3 year/36,000 mile New Car Warranty, correct?

Keep us updated and good luck.

Yes, my warranty expires in a few weeks and I am looking to get PremiumCare ESP.
I am not sure how many miles/years I want to purchase. Because of the pandemic I only have 24k miles on my car and that makes it hard to judge what makes sense going forward.

HI BD. If it helps at all, I purchased my 2018 MKZ on 5/31/18, It now has just over 19,000 miles. When I purchased it, I also purchased an 8 year/75,000 mile LincolnProtect PremiumCare ESP, with LED Lighting and Key coverage. Like most people, I expected to be putting on more miles until the pandemic hit.

Going by model years and mileage, it would seem you are putting on a little more mileage per year than I am. You about 8,000 per year, and me in the 4,000 miles per year range.

Extrapolate/calculate your 8,000 miles per year out to the number of years you wish to contract for, taking into consideration how your mileage may increase if your work situation changes when things return to "normal", and that should get you a close calculation.

I don't recall the exact contract mileage breakdowns options at the moment, but maybe something in the range of 8 years/90,000 miles, to play it safe?

8 years was the max contract length in 2018. Some here have stated they believe 9-10 years is now available (that I haven't verified). If it is longer now and you wish to go for 9 or 10 years, just add a little more mileage.

Just some thoughts I hope may help.

Keep us updated and good luck.

That Extended Warranty sounds pretty good. Just curious, will it cover the car if it has performance mods added?
Hi SportPower. If it is the FordProtect ESP warranty we are discussing here, unfortunately no it will not.

The contract stipulations are essentially the same as the New Vehicle Warranty concerning modifications. The vehicle is warrantied in factory/stock form only.

Good luck.

I am looking at 8 years 85k miles. Thoughts? Reading yours posts, here and elsewhere in this forum, appears people are having trouble around 80 to 100k. But age at those miles wasn't really mentioned.
Ziegler says ~ $2250.
Local dealer said they can match down to ~ $2450.

Hi BD. If 8 years/85,000 miles fits your needs, then that is the one you should go with. Just keep in mind that it may be better to run out of time than run out of miles. And if Zeigler saves you $200, buy from Zeigler. There is no advantage to purchasing the ESP from the Dealership, if they are overcharging you $200.

In my case, I have two cars, take very good care of them and keep them for a long time. If that also describes your situation, I would purchase the most years (as long as you will keep the vehicle that long), and calculate how many miles you will need for that number of years. Then choose the mileage limit that will cover it with a bit to spare.

As I said, I went with the LincolnProtect PremiumCare ESP, 8 years/75,000 miles/$0 deductible, LED and Key coverage. 8 years being the time limit when I purchased my MKZ in 2018, and 75,000 miles will safely cover me for 8 years.

Another opinion here: If you do not keep your vehicles that long, don't over-purchase on years/miles, thinking the ESP is a good selling point when you sell or trade-in your vehicle.

Generally speaking, you will not get that money back from the buyer (or a Dealer) at selling/trade-in time.

Let us know how you make out and good luck. 🍻

Keeping my cars the long term is a weird conversation as it hasn't been my normal for the last 9 years.
I do plan to keep this car until the wheels fall off, but it is also my 3rd Fusion (I leased the first 2 - almost 9 years in a Fusion right now). I also currently just leased my 3rd Explorer the wife drives. The last car I owned was a 2003 Mits Eclipse GT and put ~132k miles on that - I think I turned it into the dealer at ~192k miles. I generally keep my cars a long time, and 9 years in a Fusion feels like a long time even though it wasn't the same one.
I would also like to mod the car somewhat in a few years and don't feel like doing it while under warranty - I like the idea of waiting 5 years more then waiting 7, but also rather have the comfort of a warranty then mod it. Decisions. Decisions. Decisions.
I will reach out to Zeigler and ask what the longest warranty they would able to provide for the car to at least understand what my options are. Their website seems to max out at 9 years for me.

Gotcha....good tip/advice. This why I like this forum...more people here that could probably qualify as therapists (as well as techs)!

I bought 10 years 100k miles PremiumCARE from Zeigler. Should be able to see the warranty added in Ford pass on Monday.
This just means I will not be modding my car for at least 100k miles (and most likely, not at all as I do have some reasons to keep it stock anyways).

edit: I went with 100k miles as I have been working from home since the pandemic started, and it doesn't appear my employer is going to change their minds. (but I do go into the office as needed). I have so far been driving on avg 8k miles a year, and this would give me just under 11k miles a year to make it all of the next 7 years. I kind of expect to increase my driving now that the pandemic is pretty much over. And hoping for more road trips.

I thought I wouldn't mod either, but a 93 tune is like a whole new car. I'll live with the possibility of Ford not paying for engine/trans failure.
Overall, I'm much more worried about unfixable electronics ghosts or gremlins, over a tuned drivetrain failure. Wish I could have gotten those
2 extra years, they only offered 8 when I got mine.
