Catch can change

1221 Views 7 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  BOT_ROCKET
Hey guys, I was emptying my catch can yesterday and saw this.
Food Hand Finger Wood Cuisine

I have never seen it this color before. Should this be cause for concern? Was very watery not thick like oil.

Anyone else seen this color come out?
Thanks

I suggest you check your dip stick and make sure you don't see the same thing (hoping not). If you see the same stuff
on the dip stick, you have a bad head gasket and antifreeze is getting to the oil.

If you don't see the same on the dip stick, you are getting some moisture in the system from somewhere. No this is not normal.
Very @Sknz5 I'm not sure if you're tuned or not but if you are, you're not running really sky-high boost or anything are you? If it is a blown head gasket, I'd wonder if you're running too much pressure maybe. But I mean sometimes a head gasket (on any engine, not just ours) will just fall, so maybe there's no particular issue other than just bad luck. Still I'd data log your boost levels if you're tuned. If you're running stock it should be under 15.5 or so probably.
Checked the dip stick after work. Everything looked good there. Maybe I was spraying too much water meth while on a stock tune. I just had an oil change at the dealer about a week ago. Then turned my meth to start spraying at 4psi boost for a couple of days
Bingo! You need to check how much you are spraying. At 4 PSI, you are going to be spraying every time you leave a red light. I suggest you change that low setting to 8 psi. If you are going to use water/meth, I recommend you NOT do it unless you are tuned for it. You are getting a lot of moisture in the system. You could develop some real problems over time.

Thanks, that's kind of what I was thinking. Turned the start back up to 12psi until I put my good tune back on to it. I will definitely keep an eye on it for now.

Thanks again
Why are you spraying a stock tune? It's early for me, and my brain can't figure out how that can work.
