Just for kicks...

Who is planning on running regular 87 through their FuSpo's veins? I test drove the one I leased and it had quarter tank of 87... I made a point to tell the dealer to fill it up with 93... it is a sports car, right?

With that said, I been fairly diligent with researching different fuel brands and if it makes a difference. Bottom line, its relatively all the same if you are getting it from a high volume name brand (Kroger, Meijer, Costco, BP, Shell, etc.). With the premium fuel, companies are beginning to add proprietary additives and cleaners that are supposed to assist with keeping things clean.

Since taking delivery, all tanks have been filled with Shell 93... There is one station around my house that does not bend me over as much. I've notice a significant difference from test drive, and a slight difference from when the dealer topped her off (likely due to there still being 87 in the tank).

Dang, I feel spoiled. Just about every station has 93 by me. The one problem I find is it can be $.80 to $1.00 over regular.

I also tend to buy my gas at a grocery store, because they have cheaper regular and the 93 is only 38-40 cents more. My current car requires 91 or better so the good stuff it is. We only get 87, 89, or 93 around here.

The best I have in the city I live is 91. There are only two stations in the city I work that sell 93. Its a 40 mile difference between where I live and where I work... So I am kinda stuck. I wonder how well it runs on 91 as opposed to 93? Is it noticeable at all, or can you still feel the difference?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say you probably won't feel a ton of difference... but it is a different fuel grade so there could be advantages. I either get 87,89 or 93. I've got about 3 stations within 10 miles of me that pump race gas... 100 octane

Wondering if 100 octane could be pumped through there with a tune on it....:D

Fuel companies have been doing this for many, many years. Nothing new here.

As for the brand of fuel you choose to burn, just stick with Top Tier fuels. Of the ones you mentioned, BP and Shell are the best (Costco has more recently entered the Top Tier fold). BP is Amoco gas so that is fine. It is a white gas which means no dies are added. My top choices in the area in which I live are BP and Shell, in that order. If you can find Chevron, that is a highly rated Top Tier fuel.

As for choosing between 87 and 93, that is a no brainer. Go with 93 to allow the ECU to unleash the maximum amount of power the current state of tune will support.

Seems like a lot but then it's not an all the time thing, like if I lived in California and had to pay that to begin with.

A once in a while luxury.

Dealer almost certainly put 87, which fine by me. Still feels like plenty of power. (Still on my 1st tank). Haven't really romped on it. Only put it in Sport once and did like a 5-40 pull on the test drive. Trying to do the 1,000 mile break in first I guess. Hopefully the guys at the dealer didn't abuse it too badly during it's first 38 miles before it was mine.

Once the break in is done I'll do a tank of 93 and see if it's worth it. Thinking highly unlikely unless going to the track etc. For DD not with the extra to do 0-60 a little faster a few times each tank.

Went through a tank of 93. Car felt a bit torquier with better throttle response from stops/low speeds. Couldn't really FEEL a difference in acceleration speeds. Be real interested to see 0-60 & 1/4 times from the same car, track and temp with 87 vs 93.

Going to stay with 87 and save myself a little $ since it seems to run just fine. Be nice if it was just the 20 cent increase that seemed standard for so long. Now days it's a 40-50c/gal increase around here.

Still would definitely be interested in a 93 only tune if it really wakes the beast up.

I've been exclusively running 93 (Shell V Power). I can tell in my 14 FuSE... I started with 93, then dropped to 87... there was a noticeable decrease in fuel economy, ~1 mph. I switched back the last 6 months of having the 14FuSE and fuel economy for the most part returned to what I was getting originally.

I'm lucky enough to have a Shell station near me that doesn't require a swift kick to the junk every visit... Last fill up was $2.599 for V Power... regular was 2.259. I had to fill up on an emergency (2 gallons) at a BP station, and premium there was 3.199... regular was 2.229...like WTF

Now that I think about, don't believe I even ran with the 93 solo. And most of it was spent with 3 passengers, as my mother and sister are visiting. So will need to retest :D.

Not sure I could get an accurate MPG with 93 tho. I'm not pumping premium to set cruise control lol. Averaged over total usage, mine decreased from 23.6 overall to 23.5 with 93, but that was with the added weight and more aggressive driving :p

I always run shell 93 v power in my mustang and I never see positive knock with my aggressive tuned SC. Usually see -3 so the its adding timing with the shell gas and the FS would benefit from it. It all depends on your priorities, for me it's the speed and performace its worth the extra 6 bucks on a full up.

Have a sunoco just 3 blocks away and their 93 is $2.67, so I will be using the 93 after
the 1st tank is almost empty....

Ditto... I mean if they start nad jabbing at the pump again, I may be forced to drop down to 87... my GTP ran 93 and at $4.xxx a gallon I couldn't afford to eat anything but ramen...

seems around here (South of Seattle) most stations have up to 91, and Costco has 92. I'll have to search for 93; but I mostly use Costco; so a 93 octane tune won't matter

It is "OK" to run 87 in our sports, right? My work pays for gas and they probably frown on the use of premium if not necessary. Just want to make sure I'm not going to hurt the car or put "non-recommended" fuel through it.
