Exactly, what I meant. Race cars (not street legal) will still be able to install catless exhaust. Get caught on the street without cats, hope you have deep pockets.

Umm no, I didn't say you've never modded a car.... I also didn't call you out directly. I am an admin on the facebook page and all I read are cry babies bitching about the car or how much this and that costs... It get's pretty annoying pretty quick. Go build me some downpipes and let me know what they cost and how easy they are to make. Since you are so knowledgeable on performance parts fabrication.

You can have you opinion and I have mine. My opinion is that your opinion is wrong... Last I checked this is an open forum, made for people to express their opinions.......
I did build some. Cost less than 600 and it’s better than this.

The Fiat 500's stock exhaust actually sounds nice too, like a very growly and aggressive 4-banger almost on-par with a Subaru boxer sound (but not too much like a lawnmower).
My Cobalt SS Turbo from the factory has cats, a resonator, and a "muffler" which is a box with a straight tube inside (non-perforated). It idles like a Japanese sport bike, but is very docile at WOT. I heard people that removed the resonator and muffler on the Cobalt LNF and it caused it to sound like a ricer, so I never touched the exhaust on it.

Bro any Subarus I’ve ever heard sound like ass and I live in Colorado, land of Subarus. 😂

EPA clarified in the past year or two that even race cars, that have a VIN registerable on the street, must maintain all emission components.
Even if not registered or street driven ever. Will they enforce it, unlikely, but it is, what it is.

How will the trickle-down effect of this act’s new interpretation impact the future of automotive culture as we know it?
Modifying an EPA-certified internal combustion engine or vehicle in any way that increases emissions violates the CAA and exposes everyone involved to civil ($$) and criminal (jail) punishment regardless of your intended usage. It means that every form of amateur and professional racing involving a mass-produced car or engine must conform to federal emissions standards and be able to prove it.
