Door Module Replacement

Getting them from Ford. Used a 2017 Sport VIN for the part numbers. Assuming (hoping) they’re plug & play. Anything I should know? Safe to do w/the car off or should I unplug the battery?

You can swap out a module without disconnecting the battery, you won't hurt anything. I'd just leave the ignition off when you're doing it. You will need to program the door modules so unless you're able to do that, they won't be "plug and play".

Ugh... shouldn’t they come programmed if I’m getting them from Ford?

There’s an option I’m trying to enable, but the blocks between the 17 & 18 are different, so I can’t copy mine.

Guess I’ll find out...

No. There are different options available (BLIS, heated mirrors, etc...), so they need to be programmed based on the options the car has. Ford doesn’t program the modules before they’re shipped out. They need the calibration and the as-built programmed into them

Makes sense. Wonder what they’ll charge...

Apparently the dealership will only program the modules to the VIN if my car. In other words, if I want 2017 programming, I need to copy it from another owner. Interesting because the memory blocks are different...

Can someone with a 2017 help me out? Fire up your forscan & take pics of the PDM & DDM programming?
