MKZ Turbos Have Landed

I told myself when I bought this car 8 months ago that I would probably only do tint and a tune. Well, like any red-blooded enthusiast, I knew I was lying to myself. I was able to hold off until last week, but I broke down and I ordered a set of lightly used MKZ turbos for my Fusion. They were delivered today. So far the car only has an Unleashed tune and a GFB diverter, but that's it. I'm going to try to install the turbos next weekend still using the stock IC so we can see what kind of gains are had with just the turbos. I won't be putting the car on a dyno, but I do have some track numbers from earlier this year. Hopefully I'll be able to make it to the track after the swap to see where we stand. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get the car into the mid to low 12's with both the turbos and IC on 93. I've got a Coyote swapped Mustang that I've been able to crack off a 12.3 or a [email protected] mph (bad 60', bad driver hah) with and I would love to see the Fusion run that or better lol. I doubt it will get that MPH, but the ET would be nice!

Good luck with the swap. I really wish you guys would dyno just to get an idea of what the turbos really bring to the table. But I understand money is a limited resource. I'm just curious if the turbos add close to 100 hp and they are essentially what BNR are doing to stock turbos.

It looks like that was written in 2015, and they are just switching to a precision compressor wheel for 1k. I'm really close to them but have no idea if that would be worth doing.

It would be nice, but honestly, track numbers can be just as effective as dyno numbers. I always take dyno numbers with a grain of salt.

A 13.3 or 13.2 I think at 103 or 104. My friend was there with his C32 AMG and was running similar times, so those may actually be his lol. I’ll see if I can find the slip.

Wixom is about 30-40 minutes from me. I think the upgraded TC stuff is cool, but they’re expensive and they’re not OEM. For a part like a turbo that spins at speeds up to an over 200,000 RPM, I’d rather have an unmodified part. Also they charge $1,000 per turbo, which is more than what I’ve spent on both turbos and tuning.
